The popularity of podcasts has skyrocketed over the past few years. We love them because you can listen on the go while consuming information that doesn’t overload the mind or force our attention.
Podcasts differ from more traditional online media because audiences mainly learn about them through organic recommendations. An Edison Research/Knight Foundation study of podcast advocates found that 96 percent said they had recommended a podcast to friend. Word of mouth is the primary means for podcast discovery, with just over half saying they learned about new podcasts from program hosts or friends and family.
