About this Event

This event series is brought to you in partnership with the Mid-Atlantic and Northern California WE Hubs. This event is free, and donations are encouraged. If you’d like to make a donation, please see the information on the eventbrite registration page regarding the charities.

Diversity and Inclusion are common focus areas for organizations that are looking to strengthen the overall impact of their mission. Equity has been identified as a root cause to Diversity and Inclusion efforts never fully coming to fruition. As such, organizations are beginning to focus more on how they can do their part to equality access and opportunities for women, people of color, people of different sexual orientations and identities, and other disadvantaged groups. Still, employees who value Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are looking to organizational leadership and each other to translate efforts to meaningful Action.

The IDEA Series is a series of discussions focused on putting the values of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity into Action in the workplace. Join our facilitators, Jessica Bantom (Steele Strategies) and Chris Armstrong (Veritas Culture), as they explore the importance of:

• Maximizing Inclusion and Equity in the age of remote work;

• Creating a safe and open workplace that allows people to bring their authentic selves, to talk about issues of the heart—all while still enabling the mission to be completed;

• The other side of business case requests in the area of Diversity and Inclusion.

These interactive sessions will be part exploration, part solutioning, and all focused on increasing awareness and specific actions that all of us can take to improve the effectiveness and morale of the workforce.

Session 1: Out of Sight, Out of Mind? Combating Inequities in the Remote Work Experience

Thursday, June 25th (10:00 am – 12:00 pm PST / 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm EST)*

Prior to the pandemic, employees in disadvantaged groups often struggled to be seen and heard in a traditional office setting. With the normalization of remote work introduced by COVID-19, how do we address this issue now that we have the added challenge of no longer being co-located? In this session, we’ll discuss what we can do, and more about what we should not do, to find new ways to ensure not only inclusion but equity of opportunities in this new dynamic.
