N6A Offers a Home-Away-From-Home for its New York City Staff

N6A, a full-service brand communications and social media agency, gathered feedback from its staff of about 50 to guide the design of its new headquarters in SoHo. Rhobin DelaCruz Interior Design and Fantastic Finishes carried out the agency’s vision, creating a collaborative space where N6A’s brand taglines are literally written on the wall, including a reception area called Start and End Strong and a lounge fitted with couches, video game consoles, and hot and cold beverage stations called Compete and Care. “The vision for N6A’s new headquarter office in SoHo was to create a warm family-like environment for N6A’s 50-plus employees to call home every day,” says N6A CEO Matt Rizzetta.

How is the company’s brand reflected in the space?

“The vision for N6A’s new headquarter office in SoHo was to create a warm family-like environment for N6A’s 50+ employees to call home every day,” says N6A CEO Matt Rizzetta.

N6A’s brand is heavily influenced by its culture, lauded as one of the most unique in the agency landscape. While we strongly encourage collaboration, team bonding and creativity, and we perpetuate a culture of inclusivity, reward and appreciation, our new space is designed to bring those elements to the forefront of our workplace staying true to the values and culture that N6A was built on.

“N6A’s six taglines are what define the way we work and our everyday dealings with our customers, our partners and our fellow team members,” says Rizzetta. “The office pays homage to N6A’s heritage and culture with several lounges, breakout rooms and unique spaces named after each of N6A’s six signature taglines.” N6A’s six taglines include “Compete and Care,” “Embrace the Pace,” “Start and End Strong,” “I Was Wrong,” “N6Accountability,” and “Championship Months.” All are woven into the design and atmosphere of the space, and by introducing these elements, N6A achieved a comfortable, culturally aligned space in its new SoHo headquarters.

The N6A office is an open-floor format, and upon entering you begin at the “Start and End Strong” reception area where employees and guests are met with a view of SoHo’s Greene Street, as well as a direct path to our #EmbraceThePace stage. Turn the corner to find the “Compete and Care Lounge,” featuring couches, video game consoles, hot and cold beverage stations, and a “Championship Wall” filled with prizes, trophies and awards from N6A’s signature competitions and culture programs. Our glass-enclosed conference rooms, Pace, Underdog, Accountability and Championship, line the back of the space.

What is the most unique feature about the new space?

The most unique feature is the #EmbraceThePace stage, which pays homage to the “Embrace the Pace” culture that we adhere to in our work style at N6A. The elevated stage overlooks the historic SoHo district of Manhattan, playing host to Q&A sessions with media influencers, local artists, motivational speakers, special guests, happy hours and team gatherings. Our weekly staff meetings and announcements are held at the stage as tables and chairs line the floor below it.

If the company moved out of a previous space, what was the hardest aspect of change for people? Transitioning from our previous space to our current one was smooth, as proper preparation by our operations team and cooperation from the staff made for an easy and quick move. However, seeking out the perfect space presented a difficult challenge. Finding a space that suited all our needs in terms of size, atmosphere, and location was an arduous process, but the team did not stop until the perfect fit came along.

Please share any illuminating, surprising, or hoped-for results you might have gleaned from post-occupancy surveys.

Since creating several meeting spaces (i.e. Compete and Care Lounge, #EmbraceThePace Stage, Media Lounge and breakout meeting/conference rooms), employees have been more apt to use the collaborative settings. Overall the breakout rooms have been well-received by the staff and we’ve noticed an increase in brainstorm sessions and casual team meetings.

Please talk about any other notable aspects of the project that make it unique

N6A found it important to take into consideration the wants, needs and general input of the staff when envisioning our new space. Employees who were interested formed an “interior design team,” sharing ideas from Pinterest, making design suggestions and researching furniture and décor. This gave the staff a chance to be an integral part of the process, as we value their opinions and insights.
