Who was the designer?

pL-D

What was the inspiration behind it?

Known for creating relevant, adaptable office spaces and product collections, pL-D designers Pam Light and John Duffy created Pairings as a seating solution that inspires positive experiences throughout the workspace. In talking with and listening to their clients about their changing work needs, pL-D and Kimball Office teamed together to create a more versatile lounge based system. The platform can work alone as a simple sofa/lounge group or as a system capable of transforming an open area into a third space. It was specifically designed to:

  • Work in open and enclosed rooms
  • Provide space and acoustical separation in open areas
  • Provide power and data distribution
  • Combine with systems furniture and media for expanded work and meeting options

When will it be introduced?

May 1, 2016

What do you think our readers will love about it?

Some things are simply better together. Pairings allows users to combine comfort and style with flexibility and convenience. With a mix of material options and expanded statement of line that includes one, two and three seat lounges, users can create the space that works for them! In addition, Pairings provides functionality needed in today’s work environments. Power and data can be configured right into a chair arm, seat or table, so individuals or small teams can stay fully powered and seamlessly connected. Privacy panels can be added to create the comfort of a lounge area with the seclusion of an individual workspace while tablet or tech arm options provide a surface to get things done.

Anything else notable about the product that we ought to know?

Pairings also includes options for in-line or free-standing tables, divider walls with surface, shelf, or screen options. Crescent and corner benches allow the components to connect providing an ideal place for collaborative meetings.
