How will Remix impact the workplace?

Remix combines the comfort of an upholstered chair with the performance that you need for focused and collaborative work throughout the day. It enables people to work comfortably in different ways, allowing them to be more productive and focused.

How does it contribute to “new ways of working”?

Remix supports the idea of Holistic Ergonomics™ – that a product supports both how we move and how we think. The workplace is changing, and people are sitting in different postures and positions depending on how they work best with various types of technology. Remix allows the user to sit in different postures and seamlessly accommodates the transitions between them.

The chair features a Tandem Back which combines upholstered comfort with Flex Net Matrix™ technology for all-day, active support. This unique combination of elements provides immediate and long-term comfort, and enables the chair to adapt to and move with the user.

Who was the designer?

Formway Design, a New Zealand-based design group, developed the Remix chair. Knoll and Formway Design have collaborated for over 15 years on the Life® chair and the Generation by Knoll family of chairs.

What was the inspiration it?

Remix brings innovation to the more traditional segment of the market, an area that had previously been ignored. Many people want a more familiar and understated aesthetic but need, and deserve, the benefits of a high performance task chair. Formway Design took on the challenge of designing a family of chairs that satisfies a traditional aesthetic but offers performance for today’s diverse work modes and styles. Learn more at knoll.com/remix.

When was the it introduced?

Knoll introduced Remix at NeoCon in 2014 and won the Best of NeoCon Gold award for task seating. It became available for order entry on February 17, 2015 and has begun to ship, as well.

What do you think our readers will love about the product?

Remix combines the comfort you love from an upholstered chair with the performance you deserve, all in a beautifully tailored aesthetic. It doesn’t force you to choose between comfort, performance, and aesthetic – it provides all three at once.

What is the price?

Remix work chairs are $995 (list price) for height adjustable arms, or $1095 (list price) for high performance arms. The high back chair is a $200 upcharge.

Anything else notable about the product that we ought to know?

Later this year, we will introduce another chair to the family – a four-legged, upholstered side chair. With this new line added to the Knoll Office Seating portfolio, we are able to fill all of our clients’ needs, throughout the entire office. We believe that the family will complement each other beautifully in any office, and also blends well with our existing portfolio of product.
